Northamptonshire based Cheerleaders triumph at Disneyland Paris

Top Cheer athletics elite Stunt Team, T4 took first place at Future Cheer’s championships in November, and the under 12’s Cosmic Team became their youngest to compete on the international stage.

With support from local charity the Kettering Old Grammar School Foundation, two teams from the TCA cheerleading club previously based at Kettering leisure village, now at a new purpose-built gym in Wellingborough, travelled to France to challenge themselves against the best in Europe.

“Our Level 4 Stunt Team, age 13+ is made up of the highest-level athletes in our small club, and we couldn’t be prouder. All 5 members of this team are home grown, starting with us back in primary school and working their way up to the amazing athletes they are today.” Said Robyn Aldred, Programme Director.

Their routine “hit zero”, meaning a perfect score, earning them a well-deserved 1st place. Even when the music started before they were fully ready, the team stayed calm, professional, and completely focused proving exactly why they’re such strong athletes.

“The Stunt Team set the standard for everyone in the club and are brilliant role models and ambassadors. We couldn’t be more-proud of both teams that competed in Paris”, said Robyn Aldred.

Cosmic became the first ever Under 12 Level 2 team from TCA to compete on an international stage. The team of 10 athletes delivered an impressive performance, showcasing hard-work and true team-spirit.

“A small fall was quickly recovered and the team didn’t let the moment shake their confidence. After a supportive team talk, spirits lifted and smiles returned, showing exactly what resilience looks like.” Said Robyn Aldred.

Cosmic ultimately took 5th place, just the beginning of their international competition journey

David Watson chair of the Kettering Old Grammar School Foundation said “Our huge congratulations go to all of the TCA Cheer and Tumble athletes. We are delighted to be able to support their success in international competition, and would welcome applications from other sports groups and athletes in the Kettering area who might otherwise not be able to fulfil their potential.”

In 2024 TCA Top Cheer Athletics Diamond Elite team were supported by the Kettering Old Grammar School Association to the All-Star World Championship in Florida where they took the gold medal, returning to Kettering as world champions.

“Our athletes are a true reflection of the club ethos created by our Head Coach and Programme Director Robyn Aldred, said Sonia Gilder, parent committee member, showing the hard work, attitude, and teamwork that our programme is built on.”
