Applications centre

If you’re looking for support with education, training, specialist equipment, developing an exceptional talent, or a project that creates opportunities for young people, this is the place to start.

KOGSF offers several different routes to funding. This page will help you choose the right one, understand what we look for in an application, prepare the information you’ll need and see how decisions are made. If you are unsure at any stage, please contact us. We want to help people put forward strong, well-prepared applications.

Choose the right application route

There are three ways to apply to KOGSF. The right route depends on who is applying, what support is needed and whether the request is for a specific opportunity or more sustained support

INDIVIDUAL GRANT

For a specific opportunity, activity, course, piece of equipment or other clearly defined need.

Individual grants are generally suited to one-off requests where KOGSF funding could unlock an educational, sporting, creative or developmental opportunity that might otherwise be difficult to access.

This might include specialist equipment, course fees, educational travel, coaching, training or practical support that helps remove a barrier.

INDIVIDUAL BURSARY

For longer-term support where there is exceptional talent, commitment or potential.

Bursaries are designed for young people whose development may require sustained support over a period of time. This could include coaching, training, competition, performance, specialist tuition, travel or other costs associated with progressing in a particular field.

This is also the route normally used for Gifted & Talented applications.

SCHOOLS & ORGANISATIONS

For projects, activities and initiatives that create opportunities for groups of young people.

Bursaries are designed for young people whose development may require sustained support over a period of time. This could include coaching, training, competition, performance, specialist tuition, travel or other costs associated with progressing in a particular field.

This is also the route normally used for Gifted & Talented applications.

Gifted & Talented

Supporting exceptional potential

One of KOGSF’s most important areas of work is supporting young people who are already demonstrating exceptional ability, ambition or commitment.

We are particularly interested in situations where targeted support can help someone take a significant next step. That might mean specialist coaching, advanced tuition, competition, performance, equipment, travel or access to an opportunity that could accelerate their development.

We look for evidence of genuine ability and commitment, but also for a realistic pathway forward. The strongest applications show not only what a young person has already achieved, but what KOGSF support could enable them to achieve next.

Gifted & Talented support can apply across sport, music, performing arts, academic development and other specialist disciplines.

Gifted & Talented applications are normally made through the Individual Bursary route.

KOGSF supports young people, families, schools and community organisations across Kettering and the surrounding area.

Whether you’re applying for help with a one-off opportunity, longer-term support for an exceptional talent, or funding for a school or community project, the first step is choosing the right application route.
